Jim Furyk (7/4 with Betfred to win his 4th round 3 ball) is in a strong position to win his first PGA Tour title in almost three years, as he takes a three-shot lead into the final day of the Transitions Championship.
The 39-year-old fired a four-under-par 67 on Saturday to leave him on -11 for the tournament, three shots ahead of a chasing pack on four players KJ Choi, Retief Goosen, Bubba Watson and Carl Pettersson.
Furyks last win on the US Tour came back in 2007 58 tournaments without a victory and the Ryder Cup ace is desperate to end his baron spell.
Furyk (40/1 to win the 2010 Masters) stated: “I want to go out and win a golf tournament. That’s what I practise hard for, and I haven’t been able to do that in over two-and-a-half years.”
Overnight leader Padraig Harrington could only manage a third round 72, which led to him slipping back to seven-under-par, four shots off the lead.
England’s Justin Rose, still seeking a first win in the US after 150 tournaments, is in a group tied for 14th on five-under-par.
